A 90 year old Detroit woman was reportedly in her home around midnight when three men broke in. One of the men entered the elderly woman’s bedroom, and despite her attempts to fend him off with her bare hands, he raped her, according to police. The intruder then reportedly ransacked the home, before fleeing. The following morning, the woman’s grandson is said to have found her crying, hiding behind a bed. Suspects have been apprehended, and the criminal and juvenile cases against those suspects are pending. More information here.

Roseville police have charged a 21-year-old Detroit man with stabbing his girlfriend and then turning the knife on her stepfather when he tried to protect her during an argument late Wednesday at a residence in the 26000 block of Pinehurst. When police arrived at the Pinehurst residence they found the 20-year-old victim suffering from two stab wounds to her left leg and her father being stabbed multiple times in his stomach and back, police said. Deputy Police Chief James P. Berlin said the stepfather attempted to keep the man from stabbing his daughter, and was himself stabbed as a result. Both victims were reportedly taken to an area hospital. An 19-year-old Chicago man has been charged in a weekend Lincoln Park rape and robbery, according to police. Marvin Hudson allegedly came up to a 21-year-old woman in the 1700 block of North Halsted Street about 2 a.m. Saturday and pulled her into an alley, Chicago police said in a news release. There he demanded the contents of the woman’s purse and then raped her, they said. Court records indicate Hudson has been arrested several times in the last three years on misdemeanor charges, and pleaded guilty in a misdemeanor trespassing case in Chicago in January. A Nova Southeastern University science professor is dead following an overnight home invasion. Police say that an armed man entered the home around 12:34 a.m. at Northwest Sixth Court and 75th Terrace in Plantation, tied up a married couple and robbed them. Police spokesman Detective Robert Rettig said the robber then fatally shot the 46-year-old man. Investigators say the intruder then set multiple fires inside the house before fleeing the scene. The woman escaped the burning house with her 5-year-old child. She ran to a neighbor’s house and he called the police. When firefighters arrived on scene they discovered the victim inside the home. A 28-year-old woman told police she was raped today by a man who attacked her as she was getting cigarettes from her car in her driveway. The incident began about 3:10 a.m. near 18th Street and Elmwood Avenue. The woman said the man forced her into the car at gunpoint. They drove several blocks away and parked, where the man raped and sodomized her. After the woman bit the suspect’s cheek, the man fled. A woman was reportedly found murdered inside Cellular Superstore on South Madison Street around 6:30 this afternoon. The victim’s name was reported to be Sandra Robinson, a store employee. Investigators reportedly believe the motive was robbery, but don’t have any suspects at this time. Police reportedly say Robinson’s boyfriend went to the store and noticed the doors to the business were locked, but saw blood through the window. Authorities say a man tried to sexually assault a Southern California jogger who escaped by jumping off a cliff. The woman was reportedly taken to a hospital Friday with cuts and bruises from the fall in Malibu. She told deputies she had finished a run at about noon at Point Dume State Beach and was standing at the edge of a cliff when she was grabbed from behind. She says she and the man struggled for several minutes before she was able to break away. That’s when the woman ran and jumped off the cliff. Toledo police have issued a warrant for the suspect accused of targeting women in five robberies, including one that escalated to rape. In at least two of the crimes committed in the last 10 days, the suspect hid in the backseat of the female victim’s unlocked car and ordered her at gunpoint to drive to an ATM and turn over cash, police said. A woman was stabbed to death in front of her son by a former boyfriend who died of self-inflicted stab wounds after a police chase, Lebanon, Ohio police said this morning. Shena Lee Nolan, 32, was stabbed several times by her ex-boyfriend after an argument in front of her 8-year-old son at her apartment about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Lebanon Assistant Police Chief Bob Hawley. The boy was not injured. “What kind of a person stabs a mother anyway, but then to do it front of a child?” Hawley reportedly said Thursday morning. A Yonkers man, who reportedly raped and robbed a woman over a three hour period in an act of revenge against her boyfriend, has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison and 25 years parole. Kevin Denham, 28, had been convicted by a Westchester County Court jury of two counts of rape in the first degree, two counts of burglary in the first degree, two counts of criminal sexual act in the first degree, one count of robbery in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree, and one count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, according to news reports. The attack reportedly took place on March 1, 2009 when Denham broke into the woman’s Yonkers apartment through a rear window and attacker her as she slept in her bed. More information here.

A Woodhull, Illinois man is reportedly facing six felony counts for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting two women March 1 on Big Island in Rock Island County. Jason W. Kugler, 29, was reportedly charged in Rock Island County Circuit Court with six Class X counts, which each carry up to 30 years in prison upon conviction. He faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated kidnapping. According to the charges, Kugler was armed with a weapon when he committed the crimes. The robbery counts allege that he stole each victim’s purse. The two women are 25 and 23 years old. A North Carolina man has been arrested and charged with raping a woman and carving the word “Mine” on her stomach, according to police. Keith Alan Campbell, 41, of Hickory, NC was reportedly charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female and two counts of communicating threats. The arrest warrant reportedly alleges that Campbell tied up the woman and used a box cutter to carve the word “Mine” on her stomach. More information here.

The victim, Patricia Hall, said two men she did not know forced their way into her home wearing masks and gloves. She also told investigators stole some items, and stabbed her before leaving. One arrest has been made in connection with a woman who was drugged and gang-raped on Saturday morning in Soweto, Johannesburg police said. “The woman was at her home when a group of men took her and drugged her. They took her to a house in Dobsonville where they took turns raping her,” said police spokesman, Inspector Kay Makhubele. He said the woman had sustained head injuries and had bruises on her body. Spartanburg County deputies said that the victim said she was walking along Biblebrook Drive toward Sunnyglen Drive when a silver or gray, older-model car pulled up next to her. She said the two men inside the car asked her for directions. When she walked up to the car to provide directions, the men pulled her inside the car, drove to a dirt road off of Biblebrook Drive, raped her and then drove back to Biblebrook Drive where they put her out of the car, she says. Atlanta police reportedly say 4 children found their 35-year-old mother’s body on the bathroom floor, after coming home from school. Keith Meadows of the Atlanta Police Department reportedly says Yolanda Johnson had been stabbed four or five times. Her body was found Thursday afternoon in her apartment, which is near Georgia Tech. Meadows says there were signs of a struggle in the kitchen and bathroom. More information here.

Police spent Saturday searching for a man they believed rammed into two cars in separate incidents Monday morning, raping one woman who got out to investigate the crash and robbing another. Police say the crimes happened in Dilworth and Myers Park, and officers have urged women to use caution and even not to get out of their cars if they get into a wreck. More information here.

Huntsville, Alabama police say that a female professor at the University of Alabama opened fire on her colleagues at a biology faculty meeting.  It is alleged that the professor, reportedly identified as Amy Bishop, opened fire after she learned that she was being denied tenure.  Three faculty members were killed, and three other people — two faculty members and one staff member — were taken to Huntsville Hospital, with injuries ranging from serious to critical. A Las Vegas man reportedly attacked a mother and her 4 month old son, using a medieval-style battle ax.  The crime appears to be a random act, and the suspect in custody, reportedly identified as 33 year old Harold E. Montague, denies remembering the attack, police say.   Montague also is reportedly accused of stabbing his sister-in-law, a mentally disabled woman, more than 20 times with a point of the ax shortly before he allegedly attacked the mother and her baby. 39 year old ice cream truck driver Amarjit Kaur was reportedly shot in the chest by a pair of armed robbers as she was parked near Springstowne Middle School.
