If Only They Had A Gun

One of the victims was warming her car up in her driveway when two men armed with handguns approached her and forced her back into the house, and then they proceeded to torture her, while demanding money. One of the criminals boiled some water and poured it on one of the victims, who had to be transported to the local hospital’s burn unit.

A traveling salesman from Missouri is reportedly expected to receive life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to the rape and murder of a 90-year-old woman in her home in 2005. Richard Craig McNew of St. Louis, Mo., reportedly admitted in Contra Costa County Superior Court on Tuesday to bounding and gagging Anna Elizabeth Vuori in her Lafayette home, sexually assaulting her and smothering her to death, before stealing cash, savings bonds, and her car. The victim said the assailant ripped off her clothes, raped her, then gagged her and bound her wrists and ankles with a bra and scarves. The assailant stole $85 from the victim’s purse and, in a final insult, stomped on the elderly woman’s chest as he left. The judge called this “one of the most horrific crimes” in her memory.

A 39-year-old man was shot by one of of the three robbers who forced their way into his home on South Marshall Street in Hartford, CT, as he was returning home, police reportedly said.  The criminals then proceeded to ransack the man’s home. Two masked gunmen reportedly invaded a house and shot three people in Fort Myers, FL. The two criminals entered the home and demanded money from the residents, police say. Louis Roland, Jeane Louiseau and Genet Desta were reportedly shot during the robbery, according to police. More information here.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 6-year-old Las Vegas boy kidnapped this morning during a home invasion and robbery, Las Vegas Police reportedly said. The child, Cole Puffinburger, was kidnapped at gunpoint shortly after 7 a.m The crime appears to be random, police said, adding that the mother didn’t know the men. More information here.

A Newton, North Carolina man was reportedly arrested and charged with robbing two convenience stores and raping an employee. Ronald Wayne Locklear, 26, of 115 Shady Lane was arrested by Fayetteville, NC Police after crashing in a police chase. More information here.

Police say that intruders smashed through sliding glass doors to get into a home, intending to assault someone they believed might be in the house. That person was not home, but police say the intruders smashed property, broke into a locked bedroom, and terrorized a resident before stealing property and fleeing. More information here.

A criminal with a handgun reportedly forced his way into a woman’s Lake Avenue home in Dade City, FL early on April 21. He then reportedly made the woman perform a sexual act on him while he held the gun to her head, Dade City police said. Afterwards, he reportedly robbed the woman. Last month, police said, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement crime lab matched DNA from the scene to a man by the name of Mandarin Heshami Colbert, 30, whose last known address was 38344 Hampton Ave., Dade City, FL. Police reportedly arrested him on Wednesday when he arrived for a scheduled appointment with the Parole and Probation office. He is reportedly charged with home invasion robbery and sexual battery with a deadly weapon, and was held on $200,000 bail.  More information here.

A Pemberton Township, NJ man was reportedly shot by an intruder who broke into his home at approximately 2:30 a.m. The victim, Trashan Rushing, is being treated for a gunshot wound to the head that has reportedly left him in critical condition. His young children and other relatives were reportedly asleep in the home when three criminals who were wearing hoods and masks broke into the home and demanded money. More information here.

A disabled man is recovering from surgery to repair injuries suffered during a violent home invasion. An unknown man broke into Mike Lowe’s home on Stokes Robertson Road. The man tied up Lowe, hit him over the head with a wrench and stole petty cash and prescription medication. The blow to his shattered part of Lowe’s skull. More information here.

A man who ran a barber shop out of his home in unincorporated Redwood City, CA was reportedly pistol-whipped and robbed Wednesday night. Gilardo Mendoza, 43, reportedly suffered a head wound after the incident at his home on the 500 block of Hurlingame Avenue in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood. More information here.

Police in Florida say that ateenager has admitted he stabbed a woman to death during a burglary; and a witness says the teen used the $6 he stole from her to buy beer. More information here.

Christopher Karls, a 24 year old male of Wayzata, MN allegedly admitted in court that he a 20-year-old woman who then leaping from her second-story apartment window wearing only a towel near the University of Minnesota after trying to fend off her attacker with a curling iron. Karls was reportedly previously convicted in 2002 for burglarizing an occupied dwelling in Stearns County. More information here.

The criminals reportedly struck the homes of three elderly residents on Saturday, saying that they were conducting checks on property lines as robbed the homes. Authorities say when the residents tried to call police, the suspects ripped the phone off the wall to stop them.  More information here.

The criminals, who were reportedly wearing all black clothing, including black ski masks and gloves, went to a home on the 1000 block of I Street in Eureka, CA around 9 p.m. and stuck a shotgun in the male victim’s face, police said. The man, who had been playing his guitar while his girlfriend was sleeping in the same room, was expecting a visit from his brother but instead suffered a home invasion. More information here.

Five suspects in a deadly Grovetown, GA home invasion have reportedly been arrested. 38-year old Ricky Gibson was killed in the home invasion. Late Wednesday, authorities reportedly announced five people were arrested in his murder. One of the suspects is an unidentified juvenile. The others were reportedly Willie Bernard Butler, Martin Napoleon Holmes, and Patrick Antaun Booker. More information here.

James Broadhead was found guilty of raping a 75-year-old woman. At trial, the victim testified that Broadhead, 26, put a knife to her throat, made her lie down, then he raped her, robbed her and stole her car. More information here.

Police said a 79 year old Fort Pierce, FL woman was tied to her bed during a home invasion on Sunday. Lorene Chevis reportedly said she woke up to find a man tying her hands to her bed and “rolling her up in the bed sheets and cushioning from the bed.” More information here.

A baby sitter accused of taking part in an armed home invasion appeared in bond court on Monday morning. Janette Martinez, 22, and her boyfriend, Fernando Luis Gaston, are reportedy accused of invading an FL home and pistol-whipping the resident on Saturday night, whose 7 year old child she reportedly babysat.
