Pizza Delivery Driver Murdered for a Small Amount of Money

Richel Nova, of Hyde Park, MA, was a “hard working man, making an honest living” as Domino’s pizza delivery man, according to Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis. While making a delivery, three assailants reportedly stabbed Nova to death, in order to take the small amount of money that he was carrying, before fleeing in his vehicle. A tip from a member of the community and surveillance footage led to the arrest of the three suspects, who police say are high school students. According to news reports, those arrested were Alexander Emmanuel Gallett, 18, Michel Andre St. Jean, 20, and Yamiley Mathurin, 17. More information here.

An 82-year-old Seneca man who was found dead in his home last week was the victim of a homicide, the Oconee County coroner said today. An autopsy revealed that James Carver of 655 James Carver Drive died from blunt force head trauma and that he was slain, said the coroner, Karl E. Addis. Nova Southeastern Professor Murdered by Violent Home Invader

A Nova Southeastern University science professor is dead following an overnight home invasion. Police say that an armed man entered the home around 12:34 a.m. at Northwest Sixth Court and 75th Terrace in Plantation, tied up a married couple and robbed them. Police spokesman Detective Robert Rettig said the robber then fatally shot the 46-year-old man. Investigators say the intruder then set multiple fires inside the house before fleeing the scene. The woman escaped the burning house with her 5-year-old child. She ran to a neighbor’s house and he called the police. When firefighters arrived on scene they discovered the victim inside the home. A woman was stabbed to death in front of her son by a former boyfriend who died of self-inflicted stab wounds after a police chase, Lebanon, Ohio police said this morning. Shena Lee Nolan, 32, was stabbed several times by her ex-boyfriend after an argument in front of her 8-year-old son at her apartment about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Lebanon Assistant Police Chief Bob Hawley. Lexington County deputies are hunting the killer of a West Columbia, South Carolina area man who died early Sunday after being stabbed with a butcher knife. A convicted sex offender was found guilty Tuesday of strangling and stabbing his neighbor and her two teenage children in their trailer home in southern Wisconsin. Jurors deliberated for only about 90 minutes before convicting James Koepp of Janesville of three counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of 38-year-old Danyetta Lentz, her 17-year-old daughter, Nicole, and her 14-year-old son, Scott. Koepp faces mandatory life in prison when he is sentenced April 27. District Attorney David O’Leary said the victims’ DNA on Koepp’s clothes and his DNA under Lentz and Nicole’s fingernails was crucial in convincing jurors. A partially undressed woman was found strangled to death in Suburban Markham yesterday morning. Police say that Sheila Nelson, a 47 year old woman from Harvey, was found murdered in a wooded area, near 160th Street and Oakley Avenue just before 10AM on Sunday. Nelson was strangled to death, and a belt was around her neck. The men then went to her apartment, where she lives with her husband and five children. One robber held a gun to the woman’s 10-month-old daughter’s head, police said. Wilmette police found the three bodies in a house on the 800 block of Greenleaf Avenue while performing a well being check on the occupants. Preliminary evidence is said to suggest that the man fatally shot the woman and the teenager before turning the gun on himself. Police are withholding the names of the individuals until their families can be notified.
UPDATE: The man who lived at the house in question was reportedly sentenced to 30 years in prison for stabbing his 25-year-old wife to death back in 1985. He claimed insanity, saying that he committed that homicide while suffering from “intermittent explosive disorder.”
UPDATE 2: Neighbors have identified the shooter as Richard C. Wiley, and his victims as Kathy Wiley-Motes and her son Christopher Motes. Kathy was a church office coordinator, and Chris was a 17 year old student at New Trier. More information here.

Police in the Northwestern suburb of Huntley are investigating a double homicide which they believe was not a “random act.” Huntley police were performing a wellbeing check on a woman named Jennifer Beaudion, 33, when they found her and a 39 year old male dead from gunshot wounds on the 11000 block of Janice Drive. The identity of the male victim is being withheld until his family is notified, according to police. Two men were fatally shot on Friday night at around 9:30 P.M. while they were in front of a car wash on the 5200 block of West Lake Street in Chicago. The two victims were standing on the sidewalk in front of the car wash when a gunman approached and opened fire. A 25-year-old man was found stabbed to death in front of a home late Tuesday night, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office said. Sheriff’s deputies went to the first block of Hill Street about 11:25 p.m. after getting reports of a disturbance at a home there, said sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee. When they arrived, they found Bay Point resident Darrell Woods lying on the ground suffering from stab wounds, Lee said. More information here.

Tulsa, Oklahoma police have arrested two suspects in the stabbing and beating death of a man in his home. Police say 27-year-old Natasha Sanders and 42-year-old Kyle Moore were arrested Wednesday on first-degree murder complaints in the death of Kevin Jones. Jones was found dead Tuesday in the bathtub of his apartment with blunt force trauma to the head and stab wounds to his back. More information here.
