Criminal Sentenced in MN Home Invasions

Dennis Lee Richardson Jr. of Willmar and formerly of Rochester was convicted of first-degree aggravated robbery and third-degree burglary, charges that stemmed from separate incidents in 2007. Richardson and two other men broke into a house and bound a 69-year-old man to a chair with duct tape, pistol-whipped him, and then stole $800 in cash and $4,000 in commemorative state quarters. Aftermath of a Deadly Home Invasion Found

Officers were called to a house in the 8900 block of Seven Locks Road in Bethesda shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday. Authorities said Mary Frances Havenstein, 63, who lived alone in the home, was found dead inside. Police said Havenstein was bound and that she may have been there for several days . Police said they are working to determine whether this case is related to other break-ins in the area. In those instances, thieves targeted elderly victims and would tie them up in their homes and rob them. More information here.

77 Year Old Landlord Set On Fire With Gasoline

A man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly dousing his 77-year-old former landlord with gasoline and lighting him on fire early Tuesday in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. Donald Hardy, 28, of the 800 block of East 65th Street, was charged Friday afternoon with attempted first-degree murder, according to police News Affairs.  More information here.
