Roseville police have charged a 21-year-old Detroit man with stabbing his girlfriend and then turning the knife on her stepfather when he tried to protect her during an argument late Wednesday at a residence in the 26000 block of Pinehurst. When police arrived at the Pinehurst residence they found the 20-year-old victim suffering from two stab wounds to her left leg and her father being stabbed multiple times in his stomach and back, police said. Deputy Police Chief James P. Berlin said the stepfather attempted to keep the man from stabbing his daughter, and was himself stabbed as a result. Both victims were reportedly taken to an area hospital. The woman was treated and then released while her stepfather reportedly remains listed in critical condition after several hours of surgery. Ohio woman fatally stabbed in front of her child

A woman was stabbed to death in front of her son by a former boyfriend who died of self-inflicted stab wounds after a police chase, Lebanon, Ohio police said this morning. Shena Lee Nolan, 32, was stabbed several times by her ex-boyfriend after an argument in front of her 8-year-old son at her apartment about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Lebanon Assistant Police Chief Bob Hawley. The boy was not injured. “What kind of a person stabs a mother anyway, but then to do it front of a child?” Hawley reportedly said Thursday morning. Nolan was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, where she was pronounced dead. More information here.

Joliet, IL man fatally stabbed while helping assault victim

Joliet, Illinois police say a 47-year-old man died of stab wounds today after coming to the aid of the victim in an alleged domestic battery incident. Police Chief Fred Hayes said officers found Reuben T. Abbott, 0-100 block of York Avenue, lying in a pool of blood on the front porch of a home on the 100 block of Nicholson Street at 4:04 a.m. Abbott, who was unresponsive, “had been stabbed in the back, stomach and neck,” Hayes said. Rabina Bibi, 35, died after being stabbed at least 15 times in Foleshill, Coventry, in September 2007. She called police twice on the night of the stabbing and her daughter, aged seven, reported the fatal attack. The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it would never be known if Ms Bibi would still be alive if police had acted appropriately. More information here.

Enraged that his girlfriend walked out on him with their child, a Hoffman Estates man fatally stabbed the woman’s father, sister and grandmother and critically injured her mother during a bloody attack outlined by prosecutors Saturday. Most of the eight people there were sleeping when Howard showed up at 1:30 a.m. Friday, prosecutors said. Soon the couple began arguing again—waking those sleeping above the first-floor family room. Woman stabbed to death, police seek boyfriend

Chicago police are searching for a 19 year old man who is wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend. Police say that they have probable cause to believe that 19 year old Orlin Ortiz fatally stabbed his girlfriend, Maribel Moreno, of the 4300 block of West Thomas Street. Moreno was found dead Thursday at 2:30AM in her home. Witnesses say that multiple people were fighting in the residence immediately before the stabbing occurred. More information here.

man sentenced to 25 years for brutal beating of girlfriend and her father

On April 25, 2008, Armando Jacobo dropped off his girlfriend after a date that had ended with a fight. He later returned and began to beat and kick both his girlfriend and her father. With a tree branch, he ripped his girlfriend’s lip off her face and left her eyes swollen shut from the beating. Jacobo also beat and kicked the woman’s father when he tried to save his daughter, breaking the man’s ankle, knocking out some of his teeth, and causing him severe brain injuries. The judge called this “one of the most vicious attacks on two human beings I’ve ever seen.” Armando Jacobo, a 23 year old man from Joliet, plead guilty to attempted murder and aggravated battery on a senior citizen, and was sentenced to 25 years on those charges.
