TN Family Held Hostage For 5 Hours By Home Invaders
Shelby County, TN police are investigating a home invasion robbery in which a Cordova, TN family was held hostage for five hours. Detectives say that on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, in the 8000 block of Port Douglas Drive, armed and masked men barged into the home just after 10:00 p.m. and didn’t leave until 3:00 a.m. on Thursday. The home invaders reportedly tied up 31 year-old Raven Parson and her three children: two girls, 14, and 10 and a three year-old boy. Investigators say the woman’s boyfriend, Tavious Swift, 28, came home around 1:00 a.m., and the men injured and tied him up as well. The criminals then went room to room, ransacking the house before leaving with cash, jewelry, and a Black Chevy Tahoe, said detectives. More information here.
In the above situation, and countless others, innocent people have been harmed by the action of a criminal. Had there been an armed, law abiding citizen in the area, tragedy may very well have been averted. Americans use guns for self defense every 13 seconds, and that is perhaps the best reason to have a gun. These people are certainly glad they had a gun for self defense.September 11th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
